Renting while Targeted
Anyone that has experienced surveillance abuse realizes that being targeted makes life more challenging. You have to stay aware… alert… circumspect. This is especially true in finding somewhere to stay. Depending on your level of targeting, perps and others (on the side of wrong) will watch you closely as you set out to procure a room to rent. They may contact a potential landlord before you even set out to view the place. They may set all types of hindrances in your way and could very well create a trap in the very place that should be your refuge. This is not something to take lightly. Deciding to live in the wrong house with the wrong people could literally be the beginning of the end for you. It’s one of the most important decisions you’ll make as a targeted individual.
So how do you navigate such an important task successfully? The first thing is to be on high alert. Vigilance is not the same as paranoia; it’s ok to know your surroundings but you must respond accordingly. Take note if anyone follows you while en route to the property. Once there, study your prospective landlord. Play close attention to body language and trigger words. This is a good time to make your pineal gland work over time. If you don’t know what a pineal gland is, look it up. Notice how the home is structured. Consider where the room is situated in the home (try not to be in a room where the traffic is high). Use intuition and common sense like never before. You may want to advise your landlord of being a TI (whether they believe you or not). If it doesn’t feel right, know why.
Safe houses are becoming more available as we mature as a community. A well run safe house can be a great fit for you and could offer peace of mind where you need it most. Even a safe house (or living with a TI) could spell disaster if due diligence is not performed during the selection process. The manager overseeing the safe house is key. Are they a person of integrity? What’s the history of the safe house? Talk to other TIs but most important, make sure you determine this is the place for you.
Keep your antenna in the air while making this decision… very high in the air.
